Michael Owen Johanns (/ ˈ dʒ oʊ h æ n s / JOH-hanss; born June 18, 1950) is an American attorney and politician who served as a United States senator from Nebraska from 2009 to 2015. He served as the 38th governor of Nebraska from 1999 until 2005, and was chair of the Midwestern Governors Association in 2002.

Mike Johanns was sworn in as the 28th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on January 21, 2005. Secretary Johanns' strong agricultural roots stretch back to his childhood. He was born in Iowa and grew up doing chores on his family's dairy farm.
Johanns resigned as governor in 2005 to become secretary of the Department of Agriculture in the administration of George W. Bush. He was sworn in as the twenty-eighth secretary on January 21, 2005.

Michael Owen "Mike" Johanns (b. June 18, 1950, in Osage, IA) was a Republican member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Nebraska. Johanns was first elected to the Senate in 2009. On February 18, 2013, he announced that he would not run for re-election in 2014.
