Major-General Sir William Ponsonby KCB (13 October 1772 – 18 June 1815) was an Anglo-Irish politician and British Army officer who served in the Peninsular War and was killed at the Battle of Waterloo.

Sir William Ponsonby (1772–1815) commanded a brigade of cavalry at Waterloo and led it in a charge against a French infantry column attacking the Allied line. He was killed when French cavalry counter-charged.
