Ahmet Cevdet Sunay (Turkish: [ˈdʒevdet ˈsunaj]; 10 February 1899 – 22 May 1982) was a Turkish politician and army officer, who served as the fifth President of Turkey from 1966 to 1973.

Cevdet SUNAY. 1899 yılında Erzurum (*)’da doğdu. İlk ve orta öğrenimini Erzurum, Kerkük, Edirne ve İstanbul’da Kuleli Askerî Lisesi’nde yaptı. I. Dünya Savaşı sırasında 1917 yılında subay adayı olarak eğitim kampına katıldı. Aynı yıl Filistin cephesinde görev aldı. 1918 yılında Mısır’da İngilizlere esir düştü.

Following his retirement in 1966, Sunay was appointed as a member to the Senate of the Republic. When the incumbent President Cemal Gürsel had to leave the Office due to his sickness, Cevdet Sunay was elected as the fifth President of Türkiye by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) in 1966.
