Adnan Menderes (Turkish: [adˈnan ˈmændeɾes]; 1899 – 17 September 1961) was a Turkish politician who served as Prime Minister of Turkey between 1950 and 1960. He was one of the founders of the Democrat Party (DP) in 1946, the fourth legal opposition party of Turkey.
MENDERES, Adnan. Uomo politico turco, nato ad Aydin, presso Smirne, nel 1899, morto nell'isola di Imrali, presso Istanbul, il 17 settembre 1961. Si laureò in giurisprudenza nell'università di Ankara. Giovanissimo partecipò alla guerra di liberazione guidata da Kemal Atatürk.
Primo ministro dal 1950 governò con sistema autoritario, sollevando sempre più vaste opposizioni; queste, il 27 maggio 1960, sfociarono in un pronunciamento militare, con a capo il gen. C. Gürsel. Adnan Menderes (born 1899, Aydın, Tur.—died Sept. 17, 1961, İmralı) was a Turkish politician who served as prime minister from 1950 until deposed by a military coup in 1960. The son of a wealthy landowner, Menderes was educated at the American College in İzmir and the Faculty of Law at Ankara.
