Gerhard Barkhorn (Königsberg, 20 marzo 1919 – Tegernsee, 6 gennaio 1983) è stato il secondo maggiore asso dell'aviazione della storia dopo Erich Hartmann, nonché l'unico, assieme allo stesso Hartmann, ad aver abbattuto più di trecento aerei nemici.

Nella classifica mondiale, riferita al numero degli abbattimenti, Barkhorn, è stato un grande asso per le sue 301 vittorie ottenute in ben 1104 missioni, tutte nel Fronte Orientale, secondo solo ad Erich Alfred Hartmann (1922-1993) con 352, ma entrambi, i soli a superarne 300 in tutta la durata del conflitto.
Après la guerre, Gerhard Barkhorn est l'un des rares grands As de la Luftwaffe à échapper à l'emprisonnement soviétique et ce malgré le fait qu'il ait abattu 301 appareils russes. Il ne fut jamais fait prisonnier des alliés si bien qu'il se retrouva libre en Septembre 1945.
