Muqali (Mongolian: Мухулай; 1170–1223), also spelt Mukhali and Mukhulai, was a Mongol general ("bo'ol", transl. one who is bound in service) who became a trusted and esteemed commander under Genghis Khan.

As a prolegomena to this project, a re-examinâtion of the career of Chinggis-qan's. commander for the North China campaign, Muqali (1170-1223) has been undertaken. Mongol historiography of the post-imperial period has glorified. the career of Muqali and made him the Great Hero of the Mongol conquest of North China.
In Genghis Khan: Unification of the Mongol nation. …the hands of his general Muqali. Genghis Khan himself was compelled to turn aside from China and carry out the conquest of Khwārezm.
