Edward M. House. Edward Mandell House (July 26, 1858 – March 28, 1938) was an American diplomat, and an adviser to President Woodrow Wilson. He was known as Colonel House, although his title was honorary and he had performed no military service.
Edward M. House was an American diplomat and confidential adviser to President Woodrow Wilson (1913–21) who played a key role in framing the conditions of peace to end World War I. Independently wealthy, House turned from business to politics and between 1892 and 1904 served as an adviser to Texas.
