Grey Brydges, 5th Baron Chandos (c. 1580 – 10 August 1621) of Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, was an English nobleman and courtier. Early life [ edit ] He was the only son of William Brydges, 4th Baron Chandos , who died on 18 November 1602, and Mary Hopton, who was daughter of Sir Owen Hopton .

BRYDGES, GREY, fifth Lord Chandos (1579?–1621), born about 1579, was son of William, fourth lord, by Mary, daughter of Sir Owen Hopton, lieutenant of the Tower [see Brydges, Sir John]. His father died on 18 Nov. 1602, his mother on 23 Oct. 1624 (Lysons, Environs, iii. 450). He was M.P. for Cricklade, 1597.
William Brydges, 4th Baron Chandos (c.1552- 18 November 1602), married Mary Hopton, by whom he had one son, Grey Brydges, 5th Baron Chandos, and a daughter, Frances Brydges. On 12 April 1557, when her husband succeeded to his title, Dorothy was styled Baroness Chandos ; in later years, she became known as "Old Lady Chandos".
