Biografia. Studiò prima nel ginnasio di Gotha e poi nelle Università di Erfurt, di Kiel, dove venne sotto l'influsso del pietista Christian Kortholt e infine nell' Università di Lipsia dove si laureò nel 1686. Durante i suoi studi approfondì in modo particolare la lingua ebraica e greca.
August Hermann Francke (German: [ˈaʊ̯ɡʊst ˈhɛʁ.man ˈfʁaŋkə] ⓘ; 22 March 1663 – 8 June 1727) was a German Lutheran clergyman, theologian, philanthropist, and Biblical scholar. His evangelistic fervour and pietism got him expelled as lecturer from the universities of Dresden and Leipzig and as deacon from Erfurt.
