Aron Vodă a fost, înhumat în vechea bisericuţă a Mitropoliei ortodoxe din Alba Iulia. În toamna anului 1600, sfîntul lăcaş mitropolitan a fost distrus de maghiari, inclusiv, mormîntul lui Aron Tiranul, fapt relatat de către Mihai Viteazul într-o scrisoare trimisă de el, la 3 februarie 1601, marelui duce al Toscanei.
Venne nominato voivoda di Moldavia dal sultano Murad III il 7 giugno 1592, in sostituzione di Aron Tiranul, cui era venuto a mancare il precedente appoggio dell'Impero ottomano. Spaventato dal rischio della deposizione, Tiranul rinegoziò un accordo con i turchi , fermando la salita al potere di Alexandru.
