Otto I (c. 1272 – 17 January 1328) was Landgrave of Upper Hesse from 1308 and then Landgrave of Lower Hesse from 1311 until his death. [1] Otto was born in Marburg, a son of Henry I, Landgrave of Hesse and his first wife Adelheid of Brunswick-Lunenburg.
Otto I von Hessen, was the son of Heinrich I, Landgraf von Hessen, and his first wife Adelheid von Braunschweig, and was born about 1272. He may originally have been intended for the Church, and was proposed as a Canon of Würzburg on 1 February 1293.
