Guy Lewis Steele Jr. (/ s t iː l /; born October 2, 1954) is an American computer scientist who has played an important role in designing and documenting several computer programming languages and technical standards.
Guy L. Steele Jr. is a Sun Fellow at Sun Microsystems, Inc. He received his A.B. in applied mathematics from Harvard College (1975), and his S.M. and Ph.D. in computer science and artificial intelligence from M.I.T. (1977 and 1980).
