Felix Christian Klein was born in Düsseldorf, on April 25th, 1849. Düsseldorf, seat of the provincial government of the Prussian Rhineland and a centre of industrialization in Prussia, was - contrary to other parts of the Rhineland - of dominantly Protestant religion.
