The Hound of the Baskervilles is a 1982 British television serial made by the BBC. It was produced by Barry Letts, directed by Peter Duguid, and starred Tom Baker as Sherlock Holmes and Terence Rigby as Doctor Watson. The adaptation aired as a four-part serial.
Il mastino dei Baskerville (titolo orig. The Hound Of The Baskervilles) è il terzo romanzo di Arthur Conan Doyle ad avere per protagonista il detective Sherlock Holmes. Il romanzo venne originariamente pubblicato a puntate sulla rivista The Strand Magazine dall'agosto 1901 all'aprile 1902.

Uno dei quattro romanzi con protagonista Sherlock Holmes (il terzo, nonché il più gotico) si intitola “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. Venne pubblicato a puntate su The Strand Magazine (agosto 1901-aprile 1902) e in contemporanea con l’ultima puntata uscì la versione in volume (Newnes, 1902).
