Harsh Realm is an American science fiction television series about humans trapped inside a virtual reality simulation. It was developed by Chris Carter, creator of The X-Files and Millennium, and began airing on the Fox Network on October 8, 1999.
8 ott 1999 · Harsh Realm is a military simulation programmed by the US Army that went online on October 13, 1995. For several hours, there was no distinction between our world and Harsh Realm. At noon, a nuclear bomb the size of a briefcase was detonated in the simulated New York City of Harsh Realm.

Harsh Realm e' un mondo virtuale creato dai militari che pur rispecchiando la realta' e' finalizzato ad un addestramento intensivo. Di ritorno dalla guerra in Jugoslavia e un atto di eroismo in Sarajevo, il tenente Thomas Hobbes desidera lasciare la carriera militare per sposarsi con la sua fidanzata.
In Harsh Realm's version of a post-apocalyptic New York City, warring families hire Hobbs and Pinocchio as mercenaries. Their destinies appear to be controlled by a mad priest, a vault of gold, star-crossed lovers, acid rain and access to the Harsh Realm data stream.
Lt. Hobbes is sent by the military into their virtual reality world of "Harsh Realm" to assassinate rogue-soldier-turned-game's-dictator Omar Santiago, but Hobbes' rogue predecessor, Mike Pinocchio, warns Hobbes that the game is a trap.
