Texas A&M University (Texas A&M, A&M, or TAMU) is a public, land-grant, research university in College Station, Texas. It was founded in 1876 and became the flagship institution of the Texas A&M University System in 1948.
Our main campus is in College Station. We also have a higher education center in McAllen, a law school in Fort Worth, a government and public service school in Washington, D.C., a comprehensive health science center with various locations in Texas, and branch campuses in Galveston and Qatar.
Texas A&M is one of the largest public universities in the nation, and one of the few to have land-, sea- and space-grant designations. We are also the main university of The Texas A&M University System and a member of the Association of American Universities.
