Robert Henri ( / ˈhɛnraɪ /; June 24, 1865 – July 12, 1929) was an American painter and teacher. As a young man, he studied in Paris, where he identified strongly with the Impressionists, and determined to lead an even more dramatic revolt against American academic art, as reflected by the conservative National Academy of Design.

29 set 2017 · Robert Henri was born Robert Henry Cozad in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 24, 1865, the son of a professional gambler and real estate developer. The family lived in Nebraska and Colorado, but fled east when the father shot and killed a rancher over a land dispute and was indicted for manslaughter.

Pittore statunitense (Cincinnati 1865 - New York 1929). Studiò a Filadelfia e a Parigi; lavorò per qualche tempo in Europa. Tornato in patria, nel 1891 insegnò a Filadelfia (Woman's school of design) e dal 1899 a New York (Chase school e Art student's league).
