Hella Wuolijoki (née Ella Marie Murrik; 22 July 1886 [1] – 2 February 1954 [1] ), also known by the pen name Juhani Tervapää, was an Estonian -born Finnish writer known for her Niskavuori series.

A left-wing capitalist and behind-the-scenes political influencer. Hella Wuolijoki was an influential figure in politics, even though her official political roles were brief and few in number. Her influence stemmed from her linguistic skills, her international connections and her ability to circumvent the usual solutions.
Until 1932, that is, her 46th year, Hella Wuolijoki was an Estonian writer, who was known for her novel Udutagused ('Those Beyond the Fog', 1914), and for her play Koidula (1932), which caused plenty of controversy. From that year she started to write consistently in Finnish and on Finnish subjects.
