Biografia. Capofila del realismo francese, fu autore di I Conti domestici ( 1853 ), I borghesi di Molinchart (1855) e Monsieur de Boisdhyver ( 1857 ). Nel 1856 fonda insieme allo scrittore Duranty la rivista Le réalisme, di breve durata, e l'anno dopo pubblica il Manifeste du Réalisme.
Jules François Felix Fleury-Husson (17 September 1821, in Laon, Aisne – 6 December 1889, in Sèvres), who wrote under the name Champfleury (French pronunciation: [ʃɑ̃fløʁi]), was a French art critic and novelist, a prominent supporter of the Realist movement in painting and fiction.
Jules François Félix Husson, dit Fleury, dit Champfleury, né le 10 septembre 1821 à Laon et mort le 6 décembre 1889 à Sèvres, est un journaliste, critique d’art de et de littérature, nouvelliste et romancier français.
Scrittore francese nato a Laon il 1° settembre 1821, morto a Sèvres il 6 dicembre 1889. Il suo vero nome era Jules Husson. Impiegato in una libreria di Parigi, ebbe modo di conoscere alcuni fra i letterati e artisti in voga che lo incoraggiarono a pubblicare i primi scritti apparsi col suo nome nel Corsaire Satan e nell'Artiste (1844).
Overview. Critic and supporter of the French Realist painters. In 1843 Fleury-Husson moved to Paris where he met Charles Baudelaire (1821-1867). In 1844 he joined the journal L’Artiste, writing art criticism under his pseudonym “Champfleury”.
Champfleury was a French novelist and journalist, theoretician of the Realist movement, which he analyzed in Le Réalisme (1857). Although his reputation has declined, he was an influential figure whose writings helped to popularize the work of the painter Gustave Courbet, then controversial for his.
