  2. Robert White Creeley (May 21, 1926 – March 30, 2005) [1] was an American poet and author of more than sixty books. He is usually associated with the Black Mountain poets, though his verse aesthetic diverged from that school. He was close with Charles Olson, Robert Duncan, Allen Ginsberg, John Wieners and Ed Dorn.

Once known primarily for his association with the group called the “Black Mountain Poets,” at the time of his death in 2005, Robert Creeley was widely recognized as one of the most important and influential American poets of the 20th century. His poetry is noted for both its concision and emotional power.

Ha frequentato la Harvard University dal 1943 al 1946, dal 1944 al 1945 ha lavorato per l’American Field Service in Burma e in India. Nel 1946 ha pubblicato la sua prima poesia, in Harvard magazine Wake.
