Official website. Yuji Nomi (野見 祐二, Nomi Yūji, born July 19, 1958 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese composer. His work includes the Studio Ghibli films Whisper of the Heart (1995) and The Cat Returns (2002), as well as the Kyoto Animation television series Nichijou (2011).

With his strong interests in arts and music, Nomi began studying music privately since his youth. He started his career by making for his friend's modern art performances at galleries and other venues.
The film's score was composed and arranged by Yuji Nomi, the protégé of acclaimed composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. In the film, Shizuku creates translations of the song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (originally co-written and recorded by John Denver) into Japanese for her school's chorus club.
