Haileybury and Imperial Service College is an English co-educational independent boarding and day school for 11- to 18-year-olds near Hertford in England. It is a member of the Rugby Group and enrols pupils at the 11+, 13+ and 16+ stages of education.
The Haileybury program is tailored to suit each educational stage, building resilient and independent learners, with a strong work ethic and critical skills in decision-making, leadership and enterprise.
Haileybury offers a world of opportunity for talented girls and boys, aged 11 to 18, who wish to contribute fully to our happy and purposeful community. We are an academically selective boarding and day school and we expect our pupils to achieve excellent results in public examinations.
The East India Company was nationalised and the college closed in 1858, becoming a public school with continuing ties to the former college. The college buildings survive and are now occupied by the public school's successor, Haileybury and Imperial Service College, a private school.
In 1805, the Directors of the East India Company purchased land and the ancient Hailey Bury (or manor house) near Hailey in Hertfordshire for £5000 to build a new College for the development of young men destined for service in India.
