Jonathan Aitken was married to The Hon Elizabeth Harris Aitken in 2003 until her death April 15 2022. He was previously married to Lolicia Aitken-Azucki (1978-1997). He has four children, Alexandra, Victoria, William and Petra. He is the son of the late Sir William Aitken, KBE, MP and The Hon Lady Aitken, MBE, JP.
Maintaining a friendship, she accompanied Prince Bernhard on his honeymoon in 1937 and became good friends with his new wife, Princess Juliana of the Netherlands. In 1938 she met Canadian William Aitken, a nephew of media magnate Lord Beaverbrook, and a journalist at the Evening Standard.

On 29 January 1906, in Halifax, Aitken married Gladys Henderson Drury, daughter of Major-General Charles William Drury CB (a first cousin of Admiral Sir Charles Carter Drury) and Mary Louise Drury (née Henderson).
