Abū Saʿīd al-Muhallab ibn Abī Ṣufra al-Azdī (Arabic: أَبْو سَعِيْد ٱلْمُهَلَّب ابْن أَبِي صُفْرَة ٱلْأَزْدِي; c. 632 – 702) was an Arab general from the Azd tribe who fought in the service of the Rashidun, Umayyad and Zubayrid caliphs between the mid-640s and his death.
Al-Muhallab ibn Abi Suffrah (en arabe : المهلّب بن أبي صفرة الأزدي?), aussi connu sous le nom Abu Sa'id (en arabe : أبو سعيد?), né vers 632 et mort en février 702 au Khorassan, est un général arabe de la tribu Azd.
Abū Saʿīd al-Muhallab ibn Abī Ṣufra al-Azdī (Arab: أَبْو سَعِيْد ٱلْمُهَلَّب ابْن أَبِي صُفْرَة ٱلْأَزْدِي; s. 632 – 702) merupakan seorang jeneral Arab dari suku Azd yang bertempur demi khalifah Rashidun , Umayyad dan Zubayrid antara pertengahan 640-an sehinggalah kematiannya.
The founders of the family's fortunes were al-Muhallab ibn Abi Sufra (c. 632 – 702) and his son Yazid ibn al-Muhallab (672–720), governor of Khurasan and Iraq, who led an unsuccessful anti-Umayyad rebellion in Basra in 720.
Al-Muhallab ibn Abī Ṣufrā was an Arab general in the service of the Umayyad caliphate and an important participant in the political developments of his time. Al-Muhallab first served under the caliph Muʿāwiyah, campaigning in India and raiding the country between Kābul and Multān.
Mus'ab summoned his most experienced commander, Muhallab ibn Abi Sufra, who had been engaged in battles against the Kharijites, and launched the offensive against Kufa. At the time, relations were strained between Mukhtar and his strong-man Ibrahim ibn al-Ashtar, who was posted in Mosul in the eastern Jazira (Upper Mesopotamia).
