Military science is the study of military processes, institutions, and behavior, along with the study of warfare, and the theory and application of organized coercive force. [1] It is mainly focused on theory, method, and practice of producing military capability in a manner consistent with national defense policy.

Hosted for the first time in Lisbon at the Military University Institute of Portugal, the 14th annual conference of the International Society of Military Sciences is planned as an on-site (in person) event, with online access to all sessions for those unable to travel.

Participants. Member and Participant Information and Benefit. Membership of the ISMS is open to defence universities and colleges conducting research and teaching at the highest national level. In practice, this means masters and doctoral teaching and staff college of senior officer education.
The university is a founding member of the International Society of Military Sciences (ISMS) and hosted the ISMS annual conference in 2010. The University contributes towards national and international security through research and development.
