Il Padma Bhushan (in hindi पद्म भूषण, Ordine del loto) è la terza più alta onorificenza civile della Repubblica indiana dopo il Bharat Ratna e il Padma Vibhushan (prima del Padma Shri).
Padma Shri (o Padma Shree) è la quarta più alta onorificenza civile della Repubblica indiana dopo il Bharat Ratna, il Padma Vibhushan e il Padma Bhushan. Viene conferita tutti gli anni (salvo interruzioni durante gli anni 1978-1980 e dal 1993 al 1997) dal governo indiano in occasione del Giorno della Repubblica [1] .
Il Padma Vibushan è la seconda più alta onorificenza civile indiana (mentre la prima è il Bharat Ratna); consiste in una medaglia e in un encomio, ed è assegnata dal Presidente dell'India per un servizio eccezionale reso alla nazione. Nell'aprile 2021 è stata assegnata a 321 persone.
