Testa rotonda, dipinto di John Pettie. Teste rotonde [1] [2] (in inglese Roundhead) fu il soprannome dato ai puritani che sostenevano il Parlamento durante la guerra civile inglese. Erano guidati da Oliver Cromwell. I loro nemici, i sostenitori del re Carlo I, erano invece detti Cavalieri. [2]
Espressione con cui furono indicati in Inghilterra i sostenitori del Parlamento durante la guerra civile (1642-51), in contrapposizione ai cavalieri, seguaci del re. Erano detti così («teste rotonde») dall’abitudine di portare i capelli corti, come era costume dei borghesi.
