Steve McQueen (vero nome Terence Steven McQueen) nasce il 24 marzo 1930 a Beech Grove, nello stato dell'Indiana (USA), figlio di uno stuntman che poco dopo la sua nascita lascia la moglie. Trasferitosi per qualche tempo nel Missouri, a Slater, presso uno zio, torna a vivere con la madre all'età di dodici anni, in California, a Los Angeles.
