West Glamorgan (Welsh: Gorllewin Morgannwg) is a former administrative county in South Wales. It is now a preserved county. West Glamorgan was one of the divisions of the ancient county of Glamorgan.
Until 1974, Glamorgan (/ ɡ l ə ˈ m ɔːr ɡ ən /), or sometimes Glamorganshire (Welsh: Morgannwg [mɔrˈɡanʊɡ] or Sir Forgannwg [ˈsiːr vɔrˈɡanʊɡ]), was an administrative county in the south of Wales, and later classed as one of the thirteen historic counties of Wales.
