(SOUNDBITE OF JEFF BEAL'S "HOUSE OF CARDS MAIN TITLE THEME") SIMON: The composer wrote the theme to the Netflix Series "House of Cards," and it earned him two of his five Emmys. The comedy series "Monk" earned another. Jeff Beal's also scored dozens of movies and documentaries.
Beal graduated from the Eastman School of Music, where he was commencement speaker and honored alumnus in 2011. He now mentors and encourages young composers as a participant in the Sundance Film Composer seminars and as a guest lecturer at conservatories.
