Serekunda (proper: Sayerr Kunda or Sere Kunda, sometimes spelled Serrekunda) is the largest urban centre in The Gambia. It is situated close to the Atlantic coast, 13 km (8 mi) south-west of the capital, Banjul, and is formed of nine villages which have grown together into a larger urban area.

The former village of Serrekunda market town is the Gambia's largest urban area. Its name means the home of the Sayer family & it is 13km to the south west of Banjul capital, in the Kombo North, St. Mary District. It has a population of about 390000 people.
