Sir Robert Gordon Menzies KT AK CH QC FAA FRS (20 December 1894 – 15 May 1978) was an Australian politician and lawyer who served as the 12th prime minister of Australia from 1939 to 1941 and 1949 to 1966.

Robert Menzies – ‘Bob’ Menzies or Mr Menzies – was Australia’s longest-serving Prime Minister. He was Prime Minister twice: from 1939–1941, and from 1949–1966, spending a total of 18 years and five months in the position. Early in his first period in office, he announced the declaration of the Second World War to the people of Australia.
Menzies led the Liberal–Country Coalition to election victories in 1949, 1951, 1954, 1955, 1958, 1961 and 1963. Robert Menzies was Australia's longest serving prime minister. He had served a previous term as prime minister as leader of the United Australia Party from 1939 to 1941.
