About 300 meters off the coastal town Dalkey lies the uninhabited Dalkey Island flanked by some rocks in Dublin Bay. On the island there is a Martello tower and the ruin of a small church, St. Begnet’s Oratory. The best view of the island is from Dillon’s Park (or “The People’s Park” as it is officially called) and Sorrento Park.

Dalkey Island's main sight is St Begnet's Holy Well, but it's also a popular spot for fishing, with shoals of pollock, mackerel and coalfish feeding in its waters. It's also a lovely spot to spend a couple of hours with a picnic – but be sure to take everything off the island with you when you leave.
