  1. 25 ott 2021 · Application Tips. When applying to Gallatin, NYUs school of individualized study, I felt like I knew everything and nothing about the program. Creating a personalized major tailored directly to my liking seemed rather enticing. Yet I didn’t know how I’d make it happen or where I should even begin.

  2. Is Gallatin degree useful. Since you have to make your own major, would that result in less or more opportunities for future employment in workplace? I'm interested in it but I just dont know if employers would prefer a "traditional" (if u will) degree vs a "made-up" degree. Archived post.

  3. They typically have a degree with multiple concentrations... it’s not a double major. I can’t give pros and cons for Gallatin because I’m not a student but Imo the pros are: Can study multiple areas of interests for hopefully one price. Heard they give more scholarship money. Small class size.

  4. Many law students were poli sci undergrads but creating ur own major is pretty unique! Also the gallatin seminars about politics are always great. In terms of job search, gallatin does have really great internship programs and support, but also ur in nyc and you’ll be able to find plenty of opportunities on your own as well.   6. As a Gallatin student, when I approach courses in other programs, I tend to be considered as “out of major” and that can be frustrating at times. To combat that, we are encouraged to reach out and be persistent. Most of the NYU community understands the uniqueness of the Gallatin program and I am usually able to enroll in my desired courses.

For students who feel that they would benefit from the lack of specific required courses, the great freedom in the ability to design a personalized concentration, and the interdisciplinary, holistic education philosophy that NYU Gallatin offers, it is certainly worth looking into this university.
