Nel 2010 - 2011 l'esercito poteva contare su una media di 47 135 uomini: 30 235 permanenti (regolari) e 16 900 riservisti attivi (part-time). Oltre a questi vi erano altri 12 496 membri del personale della Riserva non attiva. L'Esercito regolare nel prossimo futuro dovrà espandere l'organico fino a 31 000 uomini entro il 2014 - 2015.
