About Us. The school has its origins in the 1681 Will of Thomas Parmiter, silk merchant. In his last testament he left property to endow six almshouses and "one free school house or room" in Bethnal Green, London. From small beginnings the school grew over the years into a thriving boys’ grammar school.

Parmiter's Bethnal Green Educational Fund is a charity that has its origins in the will of Thomas Parmiter, a silk merchant from Bethnal Green.
