Pieter van Vollenhoven Jr. (born April 30, 1939) is the husband of Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and a member, by marriage, of the Dutch royal house . Early life and career. Van Vollenhoven was born in Schiedam, he is the second son of Pieter van Vollenhoven Sr. (1897–1977) and his wife Jacoba Gijsbertha Stuylingh de Lange (1906–1983).
Pieter van Vollenhoven (Schiedam, 30 april 1939) is een Nederlands oud-praktijkhoogleraar, voorzitter van het Fonds Slachtofferhulp en oud-voorzitter van de Onderzoeksraad voor Veiligheid. Hij is de echtgenoot van prinses Margriet.
Prof. mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven is zowel nationaal als internationaal nauw betrokken bij de veiligheidszorg. In 1975 werd hij adviseur van de minister van Verkeer en Waterstaat op het gebied van de verkeersveiligheid. Before the succession of his cousin Prince Willem-Alexander as King in 2013, he was a member of the Dutch Royal House and twelfth in line to the throne.

Pieter van Vollenhoven was called up for national service in the spring of 1966 and served in the legal department of the Staff of the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Netherlands Air Force in The Hague. In 1967 he received Air Force Pilot training at Gilze-Rijen and obtained his Military Pilot's Licence.
