Christian V (15 April 1646 – 25 August 1699) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1670 until his death in 1699. Well-regarded by the common people, he was the first king anointed at Frederiksborg Castle chapel as absolute monarch since the decree that institutionalized the supremacy of the king in Denmark-Norway.
The dynasty rose to prominence when Count Christian I of Oldenburg was elected King of Denmark in 1448, of Norway in 1450 and of Sweden in 1457. The house then occupied the Danish throne continuously for 576 years until the abdication of Queen Margrethe II in 2024.

Biografia. Figlio di Federico III di Danimarca e Sofia Amelia di Brunswick e Lüneburg, sposò il 14 maggio 1667 a Nykøbing Carlotta Amalia d'Assia-Kassel, figlia di Guglielmo VI d'Assia-Kassel, e ascese al trono il 9 febbraio 1670 .
