Karlsruher Fächer aus der Luft von Norden gesehen. Die Geschichte Karlsruhes beginnt mit der Grundsteinlegung des Schlossturms am 17. Juni 1715 durch Markgraf Karl Wilhelm von Baden. Die Stadt entstand als barocke Planstadt auf dem strahlenförmigen Grundriss einer Jagdanlage im Hardtwald.
