On 16 September 1935, she married the Conservative politician Duncan Sandys (later life peer Lord Duncan-Sandys). They had three children together and divorced in 1960. In 1962, she changed her name by deed poll back to Diana Spencer Churchill.

He too predeceased her, dying on 6 September 1992. Churchill was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, though even this "could not damped her spirits".
Over the course of their marriage, Winston and Clementine Churchill had five children: Diana, Randolph, Sarah, Marigold Frances, and Mary. Unfortunately, Marigold grew fatally ill just short of three years after she was born, and the family buried her in the Kensal Green Cemetery.
