Isaac Brokaw (9 March 1746 – 16 September 1826) was a clockmaker from New Jersey. Biography [ edit ] Brokaw was born in Raritan in Somerset County , but would leave for Elizabethtown where he would work as an apprentice under Aaron Miller, a renowned clockmaker.
He was born in the Elberon section of Long Branch, New Jersey, a son of Isaac Vail Brokaw, who with his brother, William, owned the New York City-based Brokaw Brothers clothing stores from 1856 until his death in 1914.

By 1887 he was among the wealthiest men in the city and hired architects Charles Frederick Rose and Howard Colton Stone, partners in Rose & Stone, to design a massive French Renaissance-style chateau on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and 79th Street.
