Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn (Edward Augustus; 2 November 1767 – 23 January 1820) was the fourth son and fifth child of King George III and Queen Charlotte. His only child, Victoria, became Queen of the United Kingdom 17 years after his death.

Prince Edward, Duke of Kent (Edward George Nicholas Paul Patrick; born 9 October 1935) is a member of the British royal family. The elder son of Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, he is a grandson of George V, nephew of Edward VIII and George VI, and first cousin of Elizabeth II.
On 23 April 1799, the double dukedom of Kent and Strathearn was given, along with the Earldom of Dublin, to King George III's fourth son, Prince Edward Augustus. After the Union of Great Britain , the Hanoverian kings liked to grant double titles (one from one constituent country , one from another) to emphasise unity.
