Sárospatak è una città situata nella regione nord-orientale dell’Ungheria, famosa per la sua architettura e urbanistica. Sárospatak was the cultural center of North-Eastern Hungary for centuries. The castle – built from the 1500's – was the most important noble center and fortification in the region. The castle successfully survived the historical storms of past centuries; the building gained more than it lost during these times.
The 16th century castle of Sárospatak was the centre of independence wars in that time, and today is a popular tourist centre. Its central building, with its red tower, has retained its medieval style during the reconstructions of the last centuries, and now hosts a museum with a view of the Bodrog river and the Hungarian Great Plain.
