Hermann II (c. 1342 – 10 June 1413), nicknamed the Scholar (German: der Gelehrte), was Landgrave of Hesse from 1376 to 1413. Life. Hermann II was born around 1342 to Louis the Junker and Elizabeth of Sponheim, daughter of Simon II, Count of Sponheim-Kreuznach. Louis the Junker was a son of Otto I, Landgrave of Hesse.
He died on 24 May 1413, in Marburg, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Hesse, Germany, at the age of 72, and was buried in Marburg, Hesse-Nassau, Prussia, Germany. More Photos and Memories (1)

Hermann II died 10 June 1413 according to most sources accessed; the Wikipedia articles states he died 24 May 1413 but there are no references cited and it is difficult to judge whether this is a mistake or a valid alternate date. He was buried at St Elisabethkirche, Marburg.
