  1. 26 mar 2024 · The following rules generally apply for events that allow the use of binders. All material must be secured in the binder by attaching them to the binder's rings (by hole-punching the sheets or using sheet protectors). Sheet protectors, lamination, tabs and labels are allowed.

  2. Ornithology is a Division B and Division C life science event revolving around the study of birds. The event revolves around competitors assessing their knowledge of information about specific species, classes, and families of birds as well as questions about general bird anatomy.

  3. What our team did was gather information on all the orders listed in the official bird list provided, such as defining characteristics, diets, typical habitats, etc. As well as anatomy, skeletal structure, plumage for certain families, and behavior to their environments.

  4. Ornithology, the study of birds, is an ID event in Science Olympiad! Similar to other binder events, it is very important you have a thorough binder and you are able to efficiently retrieve information from it.

  5. 8 mar 2022 · Binder events, like Ornithology and Rocks and Minerals, allow entire binders full of information with a very liberal standard on what it means for a binder to be “closed”. These events are identification based and have a list of specimens that students can expect on every test.

  6. I’m not sure about the exact numbers, but I know the ornithology people worked together to make over 100 pages for the binder (all in color, I feel bad for the printer). I imagine it’d take about 50 hours total, so around 8 hours per person. The circuit lab binder is a lot shorter.

  7. Currently, we operate Bird-ID for Ornithology, Minerobo for Rocks and Minerals, and Treebo for Forestry. We support the latest specimen lists in the Science Olympiad rulebook in addition to state-specific specimen lists.
