Morgan was initially buried in the Mount Slover cemetery but was reinterred in the Hermosa Garden Cemetery in 1892. Moran Earps grave site can be found at the south end of the cemetery. The tombstone is a simple gray stone inscribed with “US Deputy Marshall / Morgan S. Earp / Born 1851 / Assassinated / Tombstone, Arizona / March 18, 1882.

Morgan moved to Tombstone, Arizona in January 1880 and worked as a shotgun messenger for Wells Fargo. In October 1880, Virgil Earp became city marshal of Tombstone. Soon afterwards he recruited Wyatt and Morgan as special deputy policemen.
