24 gen 2007 · A M-U-S-T for all Mamas and Papas fans, and a damn excellent CD for any true music lover. I can only hope this renaissance of reissues of John, Cass, Michelle and Denny's pre and post group recordings will go on, with more releases of Mama Cass' solo albums and Michelle Phillips's gorgeous 1976 album.

12 feb 2019 · After a lackadaisical country-rock album in 1971 and a Mamas & the Papas contract-fulfilling reunion disc later that year, Denny Doherty laid low for a couple years before issuing this obscure effort. Waiting for a Song is a rather depressing record, Doherty being mired in melancholia more or less from beginning to end.
Doherty became disillusioned with his musical career after Waiting for a Song failed to find an audience; in 1975, he appeared in a short-lived Broadway musical staged by John Phillips and Andy Warhol, Man on the Moon, and he re-focused his energies on acting.
