Perché Melancholia travolge i limiti che si pone (il finale ineluttabile, il montaggio cubista, i personaggi caricaturali, l’abituale schema antiborghese). Perché questo è un esempio altissimo di opera visceralmente espressionista ed esistenzialista, che violenta l’ironia imperturbabile del Cinema Post Tutto e lotta per dare forma a un sentimento.

La fotografia è glaciale e l’atmosfera bluastra e fatalista provoca nello spettatore un certo malessere. Una pellicola che predilige esprimere l’emotività sacrificando i dialoghi che si fanno rarefatti e apatici.
Synopsis. Teaching mathematics at the prestigious Ahseong High School, Ji Yoon Soo (Im Soo Jung) loves her job almost as much as she loves math. A good-natured woman, with a tenacity that is always driving her forward, Yoon Soo is an excellent teacher who loves to share her fondness for math with her students.
