13 apr 2020 · Dear Simone Kirby Just saying, I read his dark materials one by one as they were released. Mary is one of my favourite characters and I am so, so happy they casted YOU! Sometimes imagination gets lost, watching a film, after imagining the character when you read the books first. Thank you for being my Mary. I can not wait for the Amber Spyglass.

Simone Kirby is an Irish actress. She is probably best known for playing Oonagh in the Ken Loach film Jimmy's Hall. Simone can most recently be seen playing Mary Malone in 'HIS DARK MATERIALS' (BBC/HBO) and as Bibi Melnick in 'HIDDEN ASSETS' (RTE). In feature films Simone previously played Oonagh in Ken Loach's ' JIMMY'S HALL ’ for which she was IFTA nominated (Lead Actress in Film, 2015), and Marilyn Hull in ' NOTES ON BLINDNESS ' (Archers Mark) - IFTA Nominated (Best Supporting Actress, 2017).
