Passer By. 2004. James Nesbitt plays radiographer Joe Keyes. Late one night he is travelling home by train when he sees a young girl, Alice (Emily Bruni) being chatted up by two men. When the banter becomes threatening Joe is unsure whether or not to intervene. When he reaches his station he glances at Alice who seems to be appealing for his help.
Passerby #3 (2010) < Re-in-bo-u >. Jiwan quits her job and start working on a script to become a film director. She has worked on her script for many years but making it into a film seems almost impossible. As she runs around the field in frustration, shee sees a shining rainbow in a puddle and finds hope to work on a new project.
However, these quibbles aside, Laissez-passer is a well-made and largely entertaining film. Once the philandering, annoyingly self-righteous Aurenche has been pushed into the background, the underplayed heroism of Jean Devaivre (magnificently portrayed by Jacques Gamblin) becomes the film's focus, and the film starts to gather some kind of momentum and direction.
